Attractive Shoushan leisure seal by Ren Ganting, master of Zisha painting and craft.
Grey-beige stone with dragon and baby-dragon as handle. Delicately carved.
As actual seal engraved are 7 characters: Shu bei cui mo mo bo (Books are memories, the ink not thick).
2,1 x 2,1 x 1,6 inches (72 x 72 x 38 mm), very fine condition. (The string has been replaced recently).
The artist Ren Ganting (1889-1968) was THE Master of Zisha painting and craft. All oft he later great Zisha artists, like Xu Hantang, were influenced by his art and teaching.
His seals are hard to find.
