Maria Eis (1896 - 1954) was an Austrian actress, both theater and movie.
She began her career 1918 to 1923 at theNeue Wiener Buehne, the Renaissancebuehne and at the Kammerspiele. Hamburg followed where she played at the Thalia Theater and the Deutschen Schauspielhaus till 1932.
Back to Wien she became one of the most famous actresses at the Burgtheater ( Elisabeth I., Lady Macbeth, Sappho, Iphigenie and Medea were her greatest success).
From 1935 on she acted in some 20 movies.
