Old Japan: Large albumen photo, depicting the famous Bell of Kamakura. Antique Japanese albumen Photo, tinted, thin paper, fixed on paper with small glue spots at he corners.
Size: 7.8 x 10,4 inches. Fine condition, app. 1885.
The bell from the Kamakura Hongaku-ji Temple, built in 1410, initially belonged to a temple from Chiba Prefecture, but one day, Nisshutsu, the chief priest from Hongaku-ji Temple, won a religious debate with the priests from Chiba and, as a prize, he received the bell.
