Authentic, so called Krim Shield award, instituted on 25 July 1942 and presented to the members of the 11th German Army and the 3rd Rumanian Army.
Awarded for the 1942 conquest of the Crimean peninsula in the Russian campaign 1941-1942.
Metallic with eagle, swastika and map in raised details adhered to a tin backing. The size is 2 1/8" x 2 5/8". (55 x 64 mm)
The actual shield is in fine condition , the tin backing is moderately rusty.
