Tenor Franco Bonisolli Autograph: b/w photo. 3,5 x 5,5 inches. Bonisolli signed this photo in Wien. The Autograph comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Franco Bonisolli (1937 - 2003) was an Italian opera tenor, famed for both his ringing upper register and his eccentric behaviour.
He made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera on Feb. 24, 1971 in the role of "Almaviva" in The Barber of Seville and repeated the role during the 1986 to 1988, and 1990 seasons. Altogether, he gave 25 performances in 7 different operas.
A hallmark performance for Bonisolli is Bizet's "Je crois entende encore", an aria from the opera the Pearl fishers. The subtlety of the libretto allows the melody to work in harmony with the vocalist. The sublime effectcan only be achieved by a master artist. "Je crois entendre"...has been attempted by many famous tenors to little effect.
