Marie „Charlotte Cäcilie“ Geistinger (1836 - 1903) was an Austrian actress and singer (soprano) and was called „Die Königin der Operette“ (the Queen of operettas).
After several successful years in Berlin, Hamburg and Riga, Friedrich Strampfer called her to come back to Vienna in 1865. There she managed the Theater an der Wien from 1869 to 1875 along with Maximilian Steiner.
Marie Geistinger was extremely successful as operetta singer. She often sang in operettas by Jacques Offenbach and Johann Strauss (son) as well in Karl Millöcker and Franz von Suppé works.
Since 1881 she toured 7 times through the USA were she was much acclaimed and earned good money.
